Ho Humm . . . . Not Much New May 2, 2014

The markets were pretty dull this week.  So far, they have been following my trading range idea (the dashed blue lines below).  On the chart I note narrow range bars and reasonably low volume for the week; looks like indecision to me.

Ho Humm (with a yawn thrown in too).NASDAQ

Economic news (April Jobs Report) was very positive, but the situation in Ukraine overshadowed it.  Traders do not want to hold positions over this weekend, to many things can happen without any market being open (to be able to liquidate).  Since not much has changed.   I’ve posted my new Client Report (under the Newsletter tab) I think I’ll just leave well enough alone. as far as writing this week.  I will point out that the Newsletter include a list of Strong Sectors and the Relative Health of the market as measured by the number of stocks in the S&P 1500 that are in various stages of Price Strength and Money Flow (pie charts); so I refer you to those this week if you would like more information.

I have been seeing some possible “green shoots” of select buying in transportation areas (Trucking and Airlines), also in select Pharma and Biotech (tho they are very selective).  Technology in general is a very mixed bag since earnings came out.  BTW, we’re about half way through 1st quarter earnings, so we could see some additional volatility.

Let’s hope the Russians behave themselves so Europe & the US can focus more on the economy and less on international crisis.  Have a good week.   ………  Tom  ……..
